QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Are Evil: Head Of Christian Group
October 13, 2002The head of the Christian group who drew attention several weeks ago by launching an Internet campaign against QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE due to the band's overt references to drug use and their "gross display of Satanism" recently revealed the reasons for her mission "to ban this filth from the Lord's earth."
"My reason for creating the page on my web site [currently down—ed.] is simple," Mary-Jane Masterson, founder of an organization called "Growing Up Strong With Jesus", told Kerrang! magazine. "This band has turned my family's life upside down. I loathe this band because of their realistic nature and their connection to drug use and Satanism. My daughter was on the road to becoming a junkie, all because she started listening to this filth. I am merely trying to save lives and souls by letting them know the evil that this band really is. I find it appalling that anyone would think otherwise."
A spokesman for Josh Homme's band claimed to be "amused" by Masterson's campaign, according to the magazine.
